There is nothing fancy about time recording. In fact, we all resort to time recording multiple times in a span of 24 hours. Time recording is the process of tracking the number of hours an employee puts in at workplace. It usually accomplishes this by considering the in time and the out time of the employees. The in time and the out time is recorded with the help of a punch card which has to be inserted into a slot for the day and time information to get printed on the card under the watchful eyes of a timekeeper. The time recorder serves the most important purpose of assisting in the generation of payroll as the pay of an employee for a particular period depends on the number of hours he has put in at the worplace. Though, this practice has been in use for a long time, yet it has its’ own drawbacks which are:

1. There is every possibility of the card getting misused, like some other employee other than the employee to whom the card belongs to can punch the card. This can be a grave issue of misconduct.

2. Punching in the wrong place can occur if the card is not placed properly in the designated slot. This can lead to an issue when the payroll is generated as discrepancies might arise in the pay of the employee.

3. There is also every possibility of the card getting lost or damaged which can again create payroll issues.

Need of an enhanced time recording
